110th Anniversary of Oaklawn Park, Hot Springs



Oaklawn Park,
established in 1904 in Hot Springs, is one of the premier race tracks in the country and Arkansas's only Thoroughbred racing venue. Best known as the home of the Racing Festival of the South and the Arkansas Derby, the track has played host to some of the biggest names in the sport including champions Zenyatta, Rachel Alexandra, and Smarty Jones.

The start of the live racing season this year is Friday, January 10 and the 57-day meet will continue every Thursday-Sunday through April 12. Oaklawn will also have live racing on Monday, January 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Monday, February 17 for President's Day. Overall, the season will offer more than $20 million in purses and 31 stakes, highlighted by the 78th running of the $1 million Arkansas Derby on April 12.

Oaklawn will open its Infield, complete with a Beer Garden, live music and family-friendly activities, every Saturday from Rebel Stakes through Arkansas Derby. The “Dawn at Oaklawn” program returns Saturday, February 15 and allows guests to get up close with the horses and top racing personalities from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. every Saturday through the end of the meet. Visitors can also take barn tours as part of the Saturday morning program. In addition to racing, the track is open year-round for simulcasting and electronic gaming.
