35th Annual Eagles et Cetera Eagles et Cetera, Arkansas's longest running eagle awareness event, is back for its 35th year. DeGray Lake Resort State Park in Bismarck celebrates the American bald eagle and the message of conservation during this event January 24-26. Bald eagles were once endangered in all of the lower 48 states. But today the raptor, which became the national emblem of the United States in 1782, has come back. Increased awareness, protective legislation and widespread conservation efforts have assisted in the remarkable comeback. Visitors making the trek to the event can expect many opportunities to see wintering eagles. The festival also gives attention to birds of prey, song birds, migratory birds, waterfowl, game birds, conservation practices and lake ecology. Barge tours also scout DeGray Lake in search of eagles, loons, coots, herons, and other waterfowl and wildlife. During the festival you can also see live birds of prey, meet a raptor rehabilitator, learn about the ancient art of falconry, and check out many bird and conservation themed presentations over the weekend. The park is located at 2027 State Park Entrance Road. For more details visit degray.com or call 501-865-5810.
