A special honor for 2013 is that the cook-off has been selected as an automatic qualifier to the World Food Championships slated for Nov. 1-4 in Las Vegas. Food:Nation,” is a four-day food festival and competition which features the best of the best squaring off in seven different categories: BBQ, Chili, Burger,Sandwich, Side-dish, a Recipe championship, and a Chef’s category. Each divisional champion then gets an invitation to compete at the Final Table for the ultimate crown and $75,000. In all, $300,000 in cash is up for grabs.

Other activities include the 63rd annual Sidewalk Art Show, crafts, food, a pageant, a parade, and a 5K race and fun run.  There will also be live entertainment, activities for children, a fishing tournament, and a car and motorcycle show. The historic downtown square is where all the action takes place.  Admission is free with a fee charged for the steak dinners. Visit www.blossomfestival.org for more information.
