Celebrating the 35th anniversary of "Smokey and the Bandit" that featured a race from Texarkana to Atlanta, GA, the annual Bandit Run will start from Texarkana this year (it was filmed on a "Texarkana" set in Atlanta). Bandit Weekend is scheduled for May 12-13 with the race actually starting the morning of Monday, May 14. The movie's Semi-Truck, police cars, some stunt cars, plus more than 100 participants (with cars) are expected. A cruise-in with the Four States Auto Museum, showing of the movie, bands, barbecue and more are also in the plans.
