Prairie DeAnn Battlefield

Physical
Northwest of I-30
Prescott, AR 71857
Phone: 870-887-5821

The scene of heavy skirmishes April 9-12, 1864 as Southern soldiers sought to blunt the Union drive toward the Red River. Though the Confederates thought the Federal objective was to capture their capital at Washington in Hempstead County, the Northern troops instead headed for Camden. The Prairie DeAnn battlefield is all private property. Much of it is pasture land, looking much as it would have in 1864, and is not accessible to the public. It is interpreted at the Depot Museum in Prescott (400 First St.).
