Currently the home of the Searcy Arts Council galleries, the Benjamin Black House was expanded in 1972 from a pre-Civil War home that occupied the corner of East Race and Locust Streets, just two blocks from the downtown square. The restored two-story early Victorian house has a highly decorative veranda and was among the first 100 structures in Arkansas to be placed on the National Register. The Gallery hosts six major exhibits every year featuring local professional and aspiring artists. One room of the home contains Black family furniture and belongings from the late 1880s.
