Fourth son of John D. Rockefeller, Winthrop Rockefeller’s decision to settle in Arkansas changed the state forever. This history is on display in a permanent exhibit entitled "Winthrop Rockefeller: a Sphere of Power and Influence Dropped into a River of Need." The exhibit spans approximately 3,000 square feet and uses the rich visual image of a water drop causing concentric waves. Over 300 restored and enlarged photographs are incorporated into 180 murals and interpretative panels to tell the story of The Man, His Heritage, The Mountain, His Influence and His Legacy. Located in the Legacy Gallery right off the Rockefeller Institute's Main Lobby, the exhibit is free and open to the public. Special tours can be arranged for students or groups.
