Overview:
Rails-to-trails conversion being developed in phases along the former Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way stretching from near Lexa to Rohwer, with an extension via the Mississippi River levee to Arkansas City. When completed, the DHT will provide visitors over 84 miles of trail. Over 20 miles completed, from Lexa to Elaine. Open to hikers and bicyclists.

    Visitor center located on Hwy. 49 at Barton featuring gift shop, picnic sites, and restrooms.
    * NOTE: No bathhouse is available.
  • Attractions:
    This rails-to-trails conversion is being developed in phases along the former Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way stretching from Lexa to Rohwer, and extending via the Mississippi River levee to Arkansas City. The first 21 miles of trail have been completed from Helena Junction to Elaine. Trailheads are located at Helena Junction near Lexa, Walnut Corner at the U.S. 49 overpass, Lick Creek (Hwy. 85 just south of Barton), Lake View and Elaine.
