The Rice-Upshaw House, located near Dalton in Randolph County, is now the oldest standing private dwelling in Arkansas. The logs for the house were cut in 1826, and the house was constructed between 1827 and 1828. Located near the Eleven Point River, the house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. In 2005, the house was donated to the Black River Technical College.
