Dreaming Cows Exhibit @ Heifer Village
Betty LaDuke’s mural is on permanent display at Heifer Village. Starting in Rwanda in 2003, LaDuke traveled the world sketching people and livestock at Heifer International project sites, where recipients learn self-reliance through animal agriculture. Each mural work is based on a sketch or sketches she made in the field. The paintings hang in the great hall in Heifer Village, site of a permanent educational exhibit on hunger and poverty. The mural project is made up of more than 31 panels. Twenty-four of the panels will make up the “mural” portion of the series and hang on on the 90-foot wall that runs through the center of the building. Seven others hang elsewhere throughout the center. All the works are painted with bright acrylic colors on large plywood panels.
