May is a great time to get out and explore any of the great Arkansas State Parks. Two of the Arkansas Delta’s parks are offering fun and educational activities geared toward youngsters that focus on the creatures and critters that call the parks home.
Mississippi River State Park in Marianna hosts a Children’s Bird Walk Adventure on May 10. The event is a scavenger hunt to find as many different birds as possible. Participants will compare notes to see if they saw the same or different birds and then learn how the feathered residents use their habitat to its fullest potential. Contact the park at 870-295-4040 for details.
It’s Creepy, Crawly, Slimy, Scaly Weekend at Village Creek State Park in Wynne on May 16-18. It’s a celebration of the park’s residents that crawl, creep and slither. Activities during the weekend include guided hikes, presentations, crafts and games, all focusing on the most misunderstood members of the park family – the amphibians and reptiles!
