Arkansas State of Fishing on Lake Ouachita

Greetings from Mountain Harbor Resort on Lake Ouachita! Jill, Kim and I
are currently here working the Arkansas State of Fishing event.  As part of the project, over 20
internationally published writers and photographers are in the state visiting from Nov. 13- 19 for a national outdoor media fishing event and photo shoot on Lake
Ouachita.

The event is
part media event, part corporate photo shoot for fishing equipment
manufacturers Frabill
(Jackson, Wis.) and MarCum
Technologies
(Minneapolis, Minn.). I’ll plan to post photos and a recap of
the event next week when I return from the road. I can’t wait to tell you all
about it! In the meantime, as to quick details of the project, Arkansas was chosen as home base
for the shoot for reasons that include location and scenery.

“Up north, November puts us between
openwater season and the lakes freezing for ice fishing, so the scenery is
rather glum,” said Noel Vick, President of Traditions Media and co-organizer of
the event. “From photography and video perspectives, we’re in
limbo. Having a southern partner like Arkansas affords us the opportunity
to keep filming and firing cameras.”

Media members
attending the event write for publications such as In-Fisherman,
Bassmaster, FLW Outdoors, North American Fisherman, Outdoor Life, Game &
Fish Publications (representing 20 unique state titles), Crappie
World, The Fisherman, Field & Stream, Midwest Outdoors, Texas Fish &
Game
and their respective websites, as well as numerous fishing-centered,
standalone websites including BassFan, Wired2Fish, and the social media site Go
Fishin’. Each participant will be treated to a customized fishing adventure,
pursuing everything from largemouth bass to crappies to striped bass to
walleyes and catfish. Award winning photographer and videographer, Bill Lindner
is also at the event.  Professional anglers, factory staff, and
outdoor personalities are also available for interviews throughout the course of
the event.

This is a second time Arkansas is hosting this national fishing meet up. Last year’s event was held in the Ozarks on Lake
Norfork, Bull Shoals and the White River, headquartered out of Blue
Lady Resort
on Norfork and Gaston’s
White River Resort
.

Sponsoring the actual
media event, in addition to Frabill and MarCum, are a host of blue-chip fishing
equipment companies, including Lund
Boats
(New York Mills, Minn.), St.
Croix Rods
(Park Falls, Wis.), Hobie
Kayaks
(Oceanside, Cal.), Aquateko
(Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.) and Arkansas’s PRADCO
(Fort Smith, Ark.), makers of YUM, Bomber, Rebel, and other lure brands.

To schedule
interviews or learn more about the event, contact either Noel Vick at noel@traditionsmedia.com or

I am looking for a place to relax during Christmas. It’s me and my husband and 9 year old daughter. Any suggestions?

Sure! I am writing from Mountain Harbor Resort at the moment and the cabins and surrounding vistas of Lake Ouachita and the Ouachita National Forest provide a relaxing and calming atmosphere. So that might be an option. Also, all of our state parks ( there are 52 in Arkansas!) also provide a nice outlet to unwind at. Here is a link to find out more about them: http://www.arkansasstateparks.com. During the holiday season there is also the Trail of Holiday Lights to check out across the state: http://www.arkansas.com/places-to-go/trail-of-lights/
For a list of lodging in the state, check out: http://www.arkansas.com/places-to-stay/
    Hope this helps!
