The kids have been working hard in school, so start their summer break off with a trip to Eureka Springs on June 11 when Eureka Springs Art Adventures presents a Saturday of art for all ages. The theme of the day is “Enchanted Dwellings – Elf, Fairy and Gnome Houses.”
These enchanted dwellings are whimsical structures made of natural materials for mystical woodland creatures, and are placed in gardens, yards, beside tree trunks and on porches. They’ll be all over Eureka Springs on June 11. You can pick up maps of their locations at the Transit visitors Centers and the Crescent Hotel lobby, then take a tour of the town to locate them.
Other activities during Art Adventures include the Eureka Springs Plein Air Painters from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Train Station on North Main. Bring your own paints, brushes and canvas and join them in capturing the scene.
Painting continues at Basin Spring Park from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with local television artist Kerrie Evenson, who encourages participants to find the painter within. Materials will be supplied, and the paintings on canvas can be taken home.
If you love fairies, elves and gnomes, meet in the Planer Hill parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to learn to create enchanted dwellings. The activity is for all ages.
Potter Karin Boudet Ford helps kids create whimsical animals in clay from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Basin Spring Park. At 3 p.m. in the park a Fairy Princess tells an original Eureka Springs fairytale.
