Hey kids! Are you ready to go back to school? Youth of all ages are invited to join the education staff at 7:30 p.m., Aug. 9 at the Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center in Fort Smith as they get ready for a new school year.
You will get the chance to create your own journals to set goals for watching wildlife throughout the year, as well as create several back to school art projects including nature-related backpack tags, notebook dividers, and more. Admission is free.
The third Arkansas Game and Fish Commission nature center, it was built on former Fort Chaffee land next to Wells Lake, a popular spot for fishing and picnics. The center contains a gift shop, classroom, multipurpose room, and a wildlife workshop. There is a wheelchair-accessible trail with wayside exhibit signs highlighting the environment and history of the lake and surrounding property.
