If you’re interested in driving a boat, whether for recreational summer fun or to find a lunker fish any time of year, you need to know Arkansas’s safe boating laws and practices. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1986, and of legal age to operate a motorboat, must have successfully completed an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course and carry proof while operating a motorboat on Arkansas water. The law also affects operators of sailboats.
There is a free Boater Education Class coming up on March 14 and 15 at Lake Dardanelle State Park Visitor Center in Russellville. You have to attend both evening sessions. After passing a test, you will receive your boater education card. You must pre-register and can do so by calling 479-890-7477.
