Buffalo National River Program Tonight in Harrison
Visit My Arkansas every Wednesday for information on outdoors and sports.
If you love the Buffalo River
, you’ll enjoy the presentation Suzie Rogers Liles is giving from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Feb. 28) at the Boone County Library in Harrison
Lile’s program, “Happy 40th Anniversary, Buffalo National River,” will trace the events leading up to the establishment of the Buffalo as a national river. She will also share her memories of the early years of the park. Liles served as the first staff historian, researching and writing many of the park’s early historic studies and National Register nominations. She moved to the Buffalo River area in 1977, became acquainted with many of the longtime residents, and listened to their stories. She retired from the National Park Service in 2009 but still has an interest in the Buffalo’s history.
I know I’m looking forward to all the information she has to share. I hope to see you there too. The library is located at 221 W. Stephenson. For more information, call 870-704-9114, email BNRPinc@gmail.com, or visit www.bnrpartners.org.
