Celebrate Independence Day at Donkey Day. That’s Right Donkey Day

Looking for something different to do on Independence Day? I think I have just the thing you’re looking for! Head on over to Mountain View for Donkey Day – True Spirit of Independence on July 4. Ozark Folk Center State Park plans to celebrate the stubborn mules and donkeys of the Ozarks because without them early settler wouldn’t have been nearly as comfortable or productive.

The event includes donkey races, fashion shows, and fun and games where the long-ears make fools of their human companions. Maybe you should take along a video camera in case you capture something worthy of a prize on America’s Funniest Home Videos. It’s certainly a unique way to start your holiday.

The races start at 8 a.m. in the lower parking lot of the park. Competitors must pre-register. There is no fee for spectators.
