Children to Salute Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Monday

Kerry Kraus

To honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site hosts “Characters of Change” on Monday, Jan. 17 at 2:30 p.m.

This children’s event is presented by the National Historic Site’s Youth Leadership Academy: The New Nine. They explain what it takes to be a character of change today. Participants write letters to both their historical and present day heroes describing how they are going to be “characters of change.” The letters then are displayed in the visitor center lobby

“Our Friend, Martin: A Magical Movie Adventure,” a 60-minute children’s animated film directed by Rob Smiley follows at approximately 3 p.m. Light refreshments are provided. The event is free and open to the public.
