Downtown Conway Celebrates St. Patrick

Conway
has an innovative way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow. It’s called Putt Around Downtown Challenge.

Nine, par four putt putt holes are strategically places throughout the downtown shopping district. Participants are encouraged to pre-register by e-mailing Kim Williams at Conway Downtown Partnership.

Starting at noon Thursday, stop by “o’JJ’s Grill“ to register and pick up the official scorecard. Grab a bite to eat while you’re there. You can play the course at your own pace throughout the afternoon as long as you’re at the 19th hole, also known as “U.S. o’Pizza“ by 5:30 p.m. According to organizers, most “putters” can complete the course in one hour if they so desire. Serenading downtown is an Irish cover band, “o’Mayday By Midnight,” who performs from a downtown roof top.

Other businesses taking part are “o’Mike’s Place“ and “Michel-o’angelo’s,” “Something o’ the Blue,” “o’ Bevy’s,” “Ann’s Trendy o’Kidz,” “A Very o’Merry Christmas Store & More,” and “o’Mountebanq Place.”

“o’Green Fees” are $10 with all proceeds going to maintenance and upkeep of downtown Conway streetscapes. Instant prizes are awarded at each hole with the grand prize for the Best Score ($100 in downtown gift certificates). The runner up gets $50 in downtown gift certificates. Winners must be present at the 19th hole (U.S. o’Pizza) for the awards ceremony from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
