Evening Floats at Pinnacle Mountain State Park This Weekend

If it’s too hot during the day for you to get outdoors, Pinnacle Mountain State Park has some nighttime offerings to enjoy this weekend. Once you’re out on the water, you’ll find it difficult to believe that the hustle of Little Rock is just minutes away.

Saturday, July 7 evening brings an Evening Kayak Float  beginning at 7 p.m. Meet at the Big Maumelle boat launch to take part in this guided float along the river. The interpreter-led trip is a great way to experience the peace of twilight as it descends into moonlight. No experience is necessary but you should be comfortable around water. Wear shoes that you don’t mind getting wet. The $35 fee includes use of a kayak, paddles and a lifejacket. Advance payment is required.

A variation of the same event is offered Sunday evening, July 8, except canoes  are used instead of kayaks. It also begins at 7 p.m. at the Big Maumelle Boat Launch. Advance payment of the $35 fee, which includes a canoe, paddles and a lifejacket, is required.

The park is located at 11901 Pinnacle Valley Road in west Little Rock.

Big Maumelle boat launch? Would this be the ramp located beneath the Little Damn Bridge (Twin Rivers)?

I called the park. The Big Maumelle boat launch is not the same one as Two Rivers. It is located in the park not far from the visitor center. The park staff suggested that people should go to the park visitor center if they’re not familiar with the launch area and they will direct you.

Is the fee for the boat rental or for the tour??? i.e. is it still $35 if we bring our own kayaks?

I’m not sure what the park rules are regarding bringing your own kayak/canoe. Please call the park at 501-868-5806 and they can tell you the specifics.
