It looks like it will actually feel like spring in Arkansas this weekend. So let’s look ahead to this Saturday (March 27) because there are a lot of great events out there to take advantage of. Here are three of them:

20th annual Eureka Springs Kite Festival at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Get in on the kite flying action from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or just go and watch. You’ll see all shapes, sizes and colors adding a little bling to the sky. In addition to the kites, you can see the Big Cats at the refuge. For details about the festival, phone KaleidoKites, a cool kite shop in downtown Eureka, at 479-253-6596 or 888-836-6251. Find out more about the refuge at Turpentinecreek.org. The refuge is located seven miles south of Eureka Springs on Ark. 23 South.

Scavenger hunts are a fun way to explore Mount Magazine State Park near Paris. Test your skills in a free nature scavenger hunt on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Just meet the activities coordinator on the patio behind The Lodge at Mount Magazine to begin.

From 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at Mount Magazine State Park, join entomologist Lori Spencer, author of the award-winning field guide, “Arkansas Butterflies and Moths”, in the visitor center for a colorful presentation on spring butterflies and butterfly gardening. A book signing follows this program. Call 479-963-8502 for details on these and other programs at this park on Saturday.
