Park Interpreter Susan Adkins of Lake Ouachita State Park sent a news release our way with the details on the upcoming Fall Foliage weekend (November 2-3) at the park. At the event, participants can take a hike along one of the park trails, make a nature journal, learn about Arkansas native trees and experience a Fall Foliage Tour by barge on Lake Ouachita.

For more information or a program schedule, you can contact the park at 501-767-9366. Tickets for the lake tour are $9 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12 and free for ages 5 and under.  Reservations are required for the tour. The 370-acre state park has programs throughout the year. One of my favorite hiking trails there is the Caddo Bend Trail, which meanders through the forests and along the shoreline. The popular 4 mile trial reopened last year after being closed due to tornado damage. A calendar of further upcoming events at the park can be found at www.arkansasstateparks.com/lakeouachita/.
