Fun on two wheels doesn’t get much better than the annual Fat Tire Festival in Eureka Springs. In its 14th year, the festival takes place July 13-15. You’ll find competitive and non-competitive mountain bike events along with kids’ events and other festivities.
Competitive events include Cross Country, Downhill, Observed Trials, Short Track and Omni Challenge. New for this year, the Fatty Fest is on the USAC American Mountain Bike Challenge national grass roots calendar. By popular demand, there are now women’s only and juniors only Omni Classes as well as new Omni scoring. There are new classes and categories across the board in all disciplines.
This year Big Town Ride is a combination of all the in-town rides organizers have done in the past. There is also a bigger and better Kids’ Rodeo with more stunts and games.
The event is free to spectators, and lots of fun to watch from the competitive events to the costume contest ride. There are evening events too, where you can have some food and watch people pick up their awards. There’s even kid-friendly swimming and a movie one night as well as events in locales for those 21 and older.
