Friday blogs are a mix of things instead of fitting a theme like my other blog days. Most of the time it will be event oriented and other times just something I need to share.

While there was a bit of a warming trend to this week’s weather, it looks like another cold spell is headed our way next week. That has me thinking about a story I wrote a few years back titled “The Coolest Places to Stay Warm this Winter.”
Arkansas has a multitude of cozy places that are great for a wintertime getaway whether you’re looking for a mountaintop, lake, or river retreat. Click here to read the story for specific lodging ideas. You can also visit www.Arkansas.com and click on the Places to Stay tab. It sorts lodging by type: hotels, lakeside resorts, cabin rentals, cottages, bed and breakfast inns, condos, houseboats, campgrounds, dude ranches and pet friendly places. You can also click on City Listings, then click on the city you are interested in visiting and voila – here you will find a list of all of the lodging available in that town.
That’s all I have for now because I actually have today off of work. I’m headed to Hot Springs for some live horse racing at Oaklawn Park! Anybody have any racing tips for me? I usually just pick my horses based on the racing form picks, favored jockeys and best of all, names of the horses. It’s one of my favorite things to do – a full afternoon of entertainment. I’m also looking forward to dinner at some of Hot Springs’ great restaurants, a little nightlife, and time spent with great friends. Enjoy your weekend!
