Geocaching Friday: April Fools and April Ghouls Great River Road Event

Kimberly J. Williams

Happy Friday!! Okay…it’s time to talk more about our upcoming geocaching event, April Fools and April Ghouls!

The event takes place on the evening of Friday, April 1, and continues most of the day on Saturday, April 2. We’ll start out with a “meet and greet” on Friday evening in historic Arkansas City. Then we’ll move on to the beautiful Desha County Courthouse for a “haunted” tour of the historic building.

On Saturday, April 2, we have a full day planned! We kick off the morning with a breakfast (a fundraiser for a local organization) in McGehee. Cachers will then be given a list of the 120 new geocaches in the area. That afternoon, we’ll all meet up along the banks of scenic Lake Chicot in Lake Village.

Click here to see the event listing on Geocaching.com. We’ll have tons of prizes and give-aways…not to mention 120 brand-new, hot-off-the-presses geocaches for the finding. The new caches are located along Arkansas’s section of the Great River Road. I’m really excited about the new power trail…which extends from the Mississippi and Louisiana lines and travels along the scenic byway through Eudora, Lake Village, McGehee, Arkansas City and Dumas. There are some great sites and historical locations along the way!

I’ll be posting updates to the event listing on Geocaching.com. Trust me…this is an event you don’t WANT to MISS!!

I’m actually in Desha County today working on locations for the new caches. If you need more info or have questions about the event, email me at DeltaTraveler@gmail.com.

Have a great weekend!!
