Get Out of the House: Summer Camp Edition

In six weeks, most kids will be heading back to school! If your youngsters are bored and ready for some fun, check out these upcoming camps offered by Arkansas State Parks!

Why experience just one Arkansas State Park when you can visit four? Parkin Archeological State Park in Parkin invites kids ages 8 to 12 to participate in a Traveling Day Camp on July 12-15. Campers will enjoy a variety of activities, including boating, riding horses, water games and pioneer games. The other parks included in the day camp are Village Creek State Park in Wynne, Crowley’s Ridge State Park in Paragould andLake Poinsett State Park in Harrisburg. The fee is $100 per camper and covers all meals, snacks, admission, equipment rentals and camp gear. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Davidsonville Historic State Park, Lake Charles State Park and Powhatan Historic State Park are teaming up for a three-day three-park day camp in Pocahontas and Powhatan. Youngsters ages 8-12 are invited to attend the Tri-Park Day Camp on July 13-15 and spend time exploring each park, learning about local and regional history, canoeing, crafts and games. Cane Creek State Park in Star City invites youngsters to get familiar with nature by attending the park’s Nature Discovery Day Camp on July 19-21 for ages 9-12. Campers will learn more about nature through a variety of activities including educational programs, fishing, hiking and arts and crafts. Reservations are required. Admission is $40 per camper. Crowley’s Ridge State Park in Paragould hosts the fun-filled Discovery Day Camp on July 19-21. Aimed at kids ages 10-12, the camp includes a variety of programs, games, nature hikes, swimming and crafts. The $50 fee includes lunches, snacks and craft supplies. Lake Frierson State Park in Jonesboro offers an Adventure Day Camp on July 20-22. The camp is an opportunity for youngsters interested in learning more about pioneers, Native Americans and the natural world around them. The three-day experience includes a variety of educational programs, games, horseback riding, boating, crafts, swimming and recreational activities. Village Creek State Park in Wynne is hosting an Adventure Day Camp for kids during July. The camp for youth ages 10-12 is scheduled for July 26-28. Each three-day camp is comprised of educational programs, crafts, games and recreational activities. The cost of the camp is $75 and includes lunches, snacks, materials and use of equipment.
