Grand Prairie Center Opens Today in Stuttgart

The Grand Prairie Center, a 63,000-square-foot multi-purpose complex on the campus of Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas in Stuttgart, officially opens today. The new center features performance areas, classrooms, meeting rooms and rental space. The auditorium and proscenium stage are capable of accommodating major theatrical productions, commencement events and recitals.

The events kick off today at 1:30 p.m. with the official grand opening of the center, including the dedication of the building and a reception. The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra String Quartet will perform at 3:30. Self-guided tours will be available through 7 p.m.

On Thursday, April 28, the Taste of Home Cooking School Vendor Expo will be open from 2 – 6 p.m. The public is invited to visit the vendors during that time, free of charge. The Taste of Home Cooking School is slated from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. The Stuttgart Daily Leader sponsors the event and tickets can be purchased at the newspaper office.

The Yoder Ruritan Fish Fry is slated from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday. Tickets will be available at the door. Beginning at 6 p.m., there is a free concert by The Pangolins, a nine-member steel drum band.

Award-winning country music artist John Michael Montgomery performs on Saturday evening at 7:30. Tickets are available at the Grand Prairie Center box office or online at www.pccua.edu.

 
Everyone is invited to attend the Blessing of the House on Sunday, May 1. The multi-denominational worship service begins at 3 p.m. and will feature several community choirs.
