The Malco Theatre, home of the Hot Springs Documentary FilmFestival, was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1935, the Art Deco style
building occupies a site that has been a source of entertainment since the 1870’s, according to the
National Register nomination.
The
Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute now uses the building as their headquarters. Renovations are in the works including plans
for restoration of the KWFC radio studios in the upper part of the
building. The theatre is located
at 817 Central Ave.
