Museum Monday: Jacksonport State Park Offering Programs on Saturday

I’ve loved museums my entire life…and after working in one for 10 years, that love only grew stronger. On Mondays, I will share some of my favorite museums located within the 26 counties of eastern Arkansas.

Monday is here again! I hope you had a great weekend.

This weekend, Jacksonport State Park in Newport is hosting two lectures focusing on the regional history of the area. Flags of the Confederacydiscusses the different flags used by the Confederate States during the Civil War and how these flags are still influencing state flags throughout the United States today. Then you’ll hear stories and tall tales about the legendary White River Monster that many believe lives in the area. Newspaper articles dedicated to the monster and photographs “capturing” the mythical beast will be displayed during the program. Log on to www.ArkansasStateParks.com or contact the park at 870-523-2143 for more information.

Remember, if you’re still trying to make plans for the upcoming weekend, make sure and check out the Calendar of Events on www.Arkansas.com!!!

Have a great week!
