Candles have been a part of American households for centuries. Before electricity, of course, they were extremely necessary. In today’s homes, candles are considered more decorative (until our electricity goes out!!) But candle making is quickly becoming a lost art. Why not learn how to make your own candles? The museum is hosting a Candle Making Workshop on June 12. Participants will learn techniques for poured and chunked candles. Class size is limited so you’ll need to make reservations.
Later this month, the museum is presenting a Trip Back in Time day camp. This would be a GREAT day camp for kids interested in history. The camp is for kids ages 6-13 and will give campers the opportunity to experience life during the pioneer and Civil War days in Arkansas. Participants will learn how to spin cotton and churn butter. They’ll play games that kids were playing nearly 200 years ago. There will also be a Civil War scavenger hunt. The Trip Back in Time day camp is scheduled for June 22-24, so there’s still plenty of time to register your budding historian. The cost of the camp is $30 and covers all materials and refreshments.

Have a great week!
