New Barbecue Cook-off in Harrison

Do you cook the best barbecue in town? There’s a new barbecue competition that will let you find out and pay you money if you do.

The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce will host Cookin’ On the Creek, a team barbecue cook-off on Saturday, Nov. 6. This first-time event will be held on the banks of Crooked Creek just a block from the historic Harrison square (on the playground side).

The event is Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned. The entry fee is $175 per team, and $4,500 in cash prizes will be awarded to the winning teams based on the judges’ decision. Judging begins at noon.

In addition to the cook-off, there will be children’s activities, and craft and retail vendors. If you’d like to be a vendor, the price of a booth is $75. The event is free to the public. The chamber will sell barbecue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you want to join in the fun, or need more information, call 870-741-2659 or go to CookinOnTheCreek.com.
