According to an AP
report, an old movie theater in Hot Springs will house productions of a new
professional theater company.
Arkansas TheatreWorks
announced it would begin its first season May 4-15 at the Central Theatre with
a touring production of Mack the Knife: The Life and Music of Bobby
Darin.
Managing director Sheldon
Kleinman said four shows to follow would all be locally produced and cast. They
are Moonlight and Magnolias, June 22-July 3, Who’s Afraid of
Virginia Woolf? Aug. 3-14; Stage Struck, Sept. 21-Oct. 2; and
the musical Ain’t Misbehavin Nov. 5-20.
The Central Theatre is on
Central Avenue in Hot Springs, a few blocks south of Bathhouse Row.
