New Season Ahead for AAC’s Children’s Theater

Cara Clemmons with the Communications Section of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism provides this guest blog post.

This Friday is opening weekend for the Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre.  Recognized by The Drama League as one of the best regional theatre companies in America, Children’s Theatre is the only professional company in Arkansas that produces children’s literary works for the stage.

This season is going to keep the family very entertained with performances based on very popular books. These include Madeline,
Bunnicula, City Mouse, Country Mouse, Christmas House, The Three Little Pigs & Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Princess and the Pea
and James and the Giant Peach.

Opening the 33rd season is Madeline and the Gypsies. In this classic story, Madeline and her friend Pepito are stranded during an outing at the rousing gypsy circus. The two are adopted by the mysterious Gypsy Mama, and they experience “life on the road” complete with
sleeping in late, no rules to follow and lots of exciting adventures. Directed by John Isner and starring an exceptional cast, the show will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

Dates for Madeline are Sept. 21-Oct. 7. Performances will be Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. For information on how to purchase tickets, visit http://www.arkarts.com/childrens_theatre/.
