Just a quick reminder that Fall Foliage Weekend is this weekend at Lake Ouachita State Park in Mountain Pine! We’ve written about the event here and wanted to give you a heads up on two other workshops taking place at the park in November.
The first is a Dutch Oven Workshop on November 9 from 10-2. The class includes hands-on participation ( for instance making a number of dishes) learning the essentials of purchasing and caring for Dutch ovens and cooking with coals. If you have no clue about Dutch ovens good news as no experience is necessary. The fee is $15 per person and cookbooks will also be available at a discounted price for participants.
The park is also offering an Umbrella Rig Workshop on Nov. 16 for those who enjoy fishing. This is a chance to find out all about the umbrella rig, also known as an Alabama rig. During the workshop, participants make their own custom umbrella rig while learning how to use them on Lake Ouachita. This three-hour workshop will also offer tips the locals use to catch bass and striper. All supplies are provided and baits and lures will be available for purchase to outfit your new rig. The fee for the workshop and included supplies is $12. Space is limited, so reservations are required for both workshops. For more information or to hold your space for either workshop you can contact the park at 501-767-9366.
