Ouachita National Forest Temporary Closures

As a result of the intense rain
the state experienced earlier this week some areas of the Ouachita Forest are
temporarily closed.

Ouachita National Forest Deputy
Supervisor Richard Rosemier reported that flooding has resulted in debris on
some roads, approaches to bridges being damaged or out, and damage to some
campsites. Following is a list of areas that are temporarily closed.

“We are still assessing damage
across the forest; however, the impacts seem to be widespread,” said Rosemier.
“We encourage forest visitors to use caution while on the forest because the
ground is saturated and additional rainfall could cause more flooding,”
continued Rosemier. Forest visitors should check with the local district
offices for current information.
