You can experience a rarity in Arkansas beginning Saturday: outdoor ice skating. Even though we do have our share of cold weather, the temperatures seldom get cold enough and stay that way long enough for skating outdoors.
This year ice skating returns to downtown Little Rock after an almost 10 year absence with the
River Market on Ice: Little Rock’s Winter Celebration.
The ice rink is in one of the River Market’s open-air pavilions overlooking Riverfront Park and the Arkansas River from November 20 through January 9. The grand opening celebration is Saturday, November 20 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Scheduled are an official ribbon cutting ceremony, demonstrations by the Diamond Edge Skating Club, music, and an appearance by Radio Disney’s Rockin’ Road Show.
The rink is open daily with an $8 per person admission fee which includes skate rental. Hours are 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 20-December 17. From December 18-January 9, hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., November 26 through December 18. Other activities include Movies in the Park on December 22 and 29 at 6 p.m., Holiday Pet Photos, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on December 5, and Free Pictures with Santa and Friends, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on December 12.
There are group discounts, plus space available for corporate and private party rentals. For more information on the River Market on Ice and other Capital City holiday activities, visit www.HolidaysinLittleRock.com.

Hi! I’m interested in the skating rink for a private party in Dec or Jan. I tried the link on your page, but could only get an error page. Could you send me some contact info for river market on ice?
Thanks!
Hi Kristin,
Thanks for letting me know the link didn’t work. It has been fixed. Here is the correct link: http://www.holidaysinlittlerock.com/content/
To find out how to reserve the rink for a private party, call 501-376-4781.
Lived here all my life and never ice skated can’t wait to have some free time!!
I read on another site that you’re limited to one hour of skating, is this correct?
Hi Stephanie,
I contacted the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau and asked them you question. The $8 entry fee covers one hour. If you want to skate two hours, it would be $16. And so on….
Thank you. We did go and turns our 1 hour is plenty of time!
What about skating when its 65 degrees outside? Is the rink still open?
Do you offer military discounts??
Hi Laura,
It’s my understanding that it doesn’t matter what the outdoor temperature is. The rink temperature is controlled from underneath the rink so it stays solid. Better hurry….January 9 is the last day.
To find out about military discounts, you need to contact the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau.

My question is for the day after Christmas, they are open right??
Is there any discounts for birthday parties for more than 10 people for 2 hours?
