Head to Lake Fort Smith State Park in Mountainburg in February for two outdoor events.
On Feb. 11, join a park interpreter in search of a waterfall on the Ozark Highland Trail. If water conditions are right, a waterfall can be seen along this portion of the trail. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring plenty of water. Participants will meet in the visitor center lobby and leave from the trailhead located at the park. There is no cost for the activity. Call 479-369-2469 for details.
American Bald Eagles find the lakes of Arkansas to be suitable homes during their winter migration. To help people sight this national symbol, the park offers a Bald Eagle Boat Tour on Feb. 12, 13 and 21. Participants should dress for the weather. Reservations are suggested and can be made at the visitor center or by calling 479-369- 2469. The cost is $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 6-12, and free for those 5 and under.
