Two great attractions in eastern Arkansas are passionate about pumpkins! Pumpkin Hollow near Piggott and Peebles Farm in Augusta welcome the season with lots of fun, fall activities for the young and the young-at-heart!
Pumpkin Hollow is known for their corn mazes! In fact, Pumpkin Hollow was home to The Natural State’s first cornfield maze, back in 1999. The theme for the 15th annual Pumpkin Hollow Corn Mazes is “Peace, Love, and Pumpkins!” Each maze has a different difficulty level – one for children and beginners and the other is more difficult, perfect for the experienced maze-goer. To add another level of difficulty, try the maze at night! This year, Pumpkin Hollow celebrates their third decade of pumpkin patch activities at the farm during the 21st annual Pumpkin Hollow Pumpkin Patch. This year’s activities include pig scrambles, the petting zoo, hayride, catfish feeding, the Kids’ Barn, pony rides, and a new slide down the levee. Don’t forgot to stop by the Weenie Wag’n for some of Ms. Ellen’s pumpkin roll and the signature cider slushes. The 12th annual Friendly Forest is designed especially for young children. This year there are new scenes and interactive displays. Youngsters can visit the friendly goblins and play on the “Pirate Ship.” And, of course, you’ll want to pick up your pumpkins, gourds, mums and cornstalks to decorate your own home this fall. It’s fun for the entire family at Pumpkin Hollow this September! All events run from Sept. 21-Oct. 31. Log on to www.PumpkinHollow.com for more info.
Peebles Farm in Augusta offers their Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze beginning Sept. 26. This year’s corn maze is a 20-acre paddleboat! Young and old will enjoy the u-pick pumpkin patch, where everyone searches for the perfect orange globe to create their scary jack-o-lantern for Halloween. There are also hayrides, horse and carriage rides, a petting barn, the infamous corn cannon, a cow train and duck races. Kids will enjoy the farm’s huge play area. Check out the sunflower patch and the cotton patch. On the weekends, Peebles Farm offers haunted mazes and bonfires after dark…if you’re brave enough! Before leaving, definitely stop by the general store, where you’ll find a great variety of Arkansas-made products. Check out the Peebles Farm Facebook page for all the latest information.
