The Oaklawn Park season concludes with the Racing Festivalof the South April 11-13 in Hot
Springs. Anchored by the $ 1 million Arkansas Derby on closing day (April 14),
the Racing Festival features numerous Stakes purses and the $500,000 Apple
Blossom Handicap on April 13 ( Friday the 13th!)
The 2011 Horse of
the Year ( Havre de Grace) is expected to sign on to defend her Apple Blossom
title. Oaklawn is Arkansas’s only Thoroughbred racing venue. The track consists
of a one-mile dirt oval and features Thoroughbred races from late January
through mid-April. It is one of the top tracks in the country, and in addition
to its racing, the track is open year-round for simulcasting and electronic gaming
