Whether you use the buzz word “momcation,” call it a “girlfriend getaway,” or take it as a “Calgon take me away moment,” the upcoming weekend retreat at Heifer Ranch near Perryville looks like nothing but fun to me! The event on April 29-May 1 is called MOMcation 2011, and it is a weekend retreat designed for moms and mothers-to-be.

It is all-inclusive – meaning lodging, food and organized activities are provided in the retreat rate. The early registration rate is $150 and ends Feb. 18. Regular registration is at a rate of $180 and runs through April 3. You can register online, and scholarships are available for moms who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship application deadline is March 4.

You’re probably wondering just what this weekend entails. It’s designed for you to customize for yourself by choosing which activities you want to do. Activities include a book discussion, yoga, hiking, crafting, wine tasting, a cooking workshop, evening social events, and more. Free time is also built into each day.

This is the second year that MOMcation has been offered. The idea is for moms to relax, reflect and revive so they can go back home to their families and continuing being great moms.

Heifer Ranch is owned and operated by Heifer International as a global learning center. In addition to the Conference Center where MOMcation will be held, the Ranch offers group tours and educational programs. Heifer Ranch is also open to drop-in visitors, who can take a tour to experience the Heifer Global Village, over 15 species of animals, organic gardens, and Shop@Heifer.
