Saddle Up at Pinnacle Mountain State Park

Kerry Kraus

You can now take part in horseback rides at Pinnacle Mountain State Park in west Little Rock. One-hour trail rides are offered and all ages and levels of experience are welcome. The rides are available during the spring, summer, and fall from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $ 25.  On the trip you’ll pass through some beautiful rural countryside, making it difficult to believe you are in one of the busiest parts of the Capital City.

Participants should meet at the Chief Whitehorse Riding Stables, located at11621 Barrett Road. Barrett Road is across the street from Pinnacle Mountain State Park’s West Summit Picnic Area. No reservations are required except for groups of 16 and more.   There is a pre-trip orientation explaining how to ride then a guide/wrangler assigns riders horses dependent on their experience. A guide is with you the whole trip.

Pinnacle Mountain State Park is located at11901 Pinnacle Valley Road. Telephone number for Chief Whitehorse Stables is 501-327-7776. The park can be reached by phoning 501-868-5806.

Are there any job openings associated with the horses?

    Hi Becky,

The trail rides are run by Chief Whitehorse Stables. You would need to contact them.

I haven’t seen a comment listed in a few yrs so I was wondering if you still offered the trail rides during the summer. My husband and I are new to the area and have a 3 yr old who adores horses so thought that this would be perfect for us! If she were to ride with one of us, would it still only be $25 or $25 each??
