Do you know that September is Gospel Music Heritage Month in Arkansas? Make Some Noise is the theme for the statewide observance, which begins Sept. 1. The state has been divided into five regions – Southeast, Southwest, Center, Northeast, and Northwest – and each will host events from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For a list of where the activities are taking place, visit ArkansasGospelMusic.com. In addition, there will be special church-sponsored events, which can also be found on the official website.
Some of the scheduled concerts taking place include: the All State Quartet Legends Concert in Fordyce on Sept. 11; the All State Collegiate Choir Explosion at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Hathaway Fine Arts Building, Sept. 17; and the All State Christian Rap Fest, also Sept. 17 in Pine Bluff at UAPB. September 24 brings the Gospel Explosion to Monticello, with the Grand Finale taking place at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock on Sept. 30. The black tie event will recognize outstanding achievements in Arkansas Gospel Music and feature performances by prominent artists. This year’s focus is “Honoring Arkansas Legends” and native Arkansas artists who have made worldwide contributions in Gospel Music.
