It’s time for the Slaughter Pen Jam, y’all! The what, say you? Slaughter Pen Jam, the premier cycling event in Bentonville along with with some excellent music.
Registration is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7 on the Bentonville square. The event starts with bicycle trials, expert and pro, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the square. The Kick-off Party is from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at nearby Compton Gardens and features live music from Monroeville and Stetson and Cia.
To get in on Sunday’s biking action, register at Slaughter Pen Free Ride Park from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Take part in the Adventure Jam, a family-friendly adventure race on a mountain bike, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park with an awards celebration from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Slaughter Pen Jam Music Festival is part of First Friday on the downtown square. On the main stage Friday, Stetson & Cia play from 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. The evening sessions feature Shannon Wurst from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., Stetson & Cia from 6 p.m. to 6:50 p.m., and Monroeville from 7 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. Saturday’s lineup is Fork and Knife from 10 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., Still on the Hill from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 3 Penny Acre from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and the latter two acts combined from noon to 12:30 p.m. The night ride party takes places from 8 p.m. to midnight at Petit Bistro with Monroeville performing a range of musical styles and sounds from bluegrass to country and pop.
