This Weekend in the Arkansas Delta

In case you DIDN’T remember, there’s a holiday weekend looming in our near future! There are some great events being held throughout the Arkansas Delta this holiday weekend!

Throughout the summer months, Arkansas Post Museum State Park in Gillett is offering guided tours of the museum each Saturday. The tour highlights some of the park’s most interesting artifacts and exhibits. Guided tours are offered on July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30. To learn more, contact the museum at 870-548-2634.

Crowley’s Ridge State Park in Paragould invites families to have Fun for the Fourth this July 2. The event features a variety of interpretive programs, swimming, pedal boating, music and games for kids of all ages. Contact the park at 870-573-6751 for detailed information.

Experience a glimpse into the past when Parkin Archeological State Park in Parkin offers the Craft Day for Kids on July 2. Young participants will gain appreciation for kids of the past as they make arrowhead necklaces or a corn shuck doll, or learn about the Mississippian Indians and the Northern Ohio School. The community of Redfield offers the 4th of July Spectacular on July 2 at FP Baugh City Park. The event includes a parade, live entertainment, activities just for kids, and a variety of food and vendor booths. The evening ends with a fireworks display finale at dark. Celebrate Independence Day with food, fireworks and fun at the 84th annual 4th of July Homecoming and Picnic in Piggott on July 4. The venerable event starts with a parade at 9 a.m. Live music, carnival rides, great food and spectacular fireworks are on tap throughout the afternoon and evening. Call 870-324-0055 for details.


Fun for the entire family can be found at the 67th annual Homecoming Picnic at Wynn Park in Corning on July 4. A parade through downtown kicks-off the event at 9 a.m. Several pageants, live entertainments, games for kids and rides are also on this year’s schedule.
