This Weekend in the Arkansas Delta

Happy Friday, everyone!! We have some great events going on this weekend in the Arkansas Delta. Take a look!
It’s the 16th annual Lake Chicot Fall Festival at Lake Village on Oct. 19-20. The event features free games for the kids, a dog show (just for fun…mutts are welcome!), a carnival, a variety of merchant booths, live entertainment, a barbecue cooking contest, a scarecrow contest, a car show and much more! The Official Jonesboro Ghost Tours are back again this year with a new guide, Paul Prater. Prater shares stories about the spooky history of downtown Jonesboro and gives insight into the ghostly residents reputed to call the area home. Tours are scheduled for Oct. 19, 20, 27 and 28. Delta Heritage Trail State Park near Helena-West Helena hosts the annual Boo-Fest Halloween Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 20. Participants are invited to play carnival-style games and, if you’re brave, stroll through the park’s “haunted” house. For more information, contact the park at 870-572-2352.

Saturday, Oct. 20, is the date for the United Way of Greater Blytheville’s 32nd Annual Championship Chili Cook-Off. The chili contest offers prizes for blind judging, people’s choice and showmanship. The event also offers arts and crafts, live entertainment, a car show, a poker run, a 5K walk/run and an entire block of activities just for kids. Village Creek State Park in Wynne hosts the 10th annual Saddle Up for St. Jude on Saturday, Oct. 20. The fun, family-friendly event benefits the St. Jude Cancer Research Center. There will be horse rides for the kids, a barbeque dinner, auction, various activities and live music. Have fun while helping a great cause! Experience the history of Arkansas Post during the 18th annual Ghosts of the Past on Oct. 20 at Arkansas Post National Memorial in Gillett. The guided walk takes visitors throughout the grounds, where reenactors portray events from the exploration and settlement of Arkansas Post, Colbert’s Raid and the Civil War.
