If you love music, you need to be in the Arkansas Delta from Thursday through Saturday!
It’s October, so that means the King Biscuit Blues Festival in historic Helena! This years dates are Oct. 4-6. Celebrating 27 years in 2012, the celebrated festival has, according to many in the know, one of the best lineups ever! Thursday night features Cyril Neville of the Neville Brothers followed by the incomparable Bobby Rush. Friday evening, one of my personal favorites, the Paul Thorn Band, performs at 7:35 p.m., making way for the legendary Taj Mahal at 9:30. On Saturday, the one-and-only James Cotton takes the stage at 7:40 p.m. followed by King Biscuit first-timer, Bonnie Raitt, at 9:30. To see the entire lineup or find out more about KBBF, log on to www.KingBiscuitFestival.com.
On Friday, October 5, it’s the 2nd annual Johnny Cash Music Festival. Held at the Convocation Center on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, the JCMF features performances by The Man in Black’s daughter, Roseanne Cash, along with Johnny’s good friend and fellow Highwayman, Willie Nelson. Also performing Friday night is Dierks Bentley and The Civil Wars. All proceeds from the concert benefit the restoration of the Johnny Cash Boyhood Project. So come see us in the Arkansas Delta, where, this weekend, it’s all about music!
