U.S. Mint Unveils Quarter Honoring Hot Springs National Park

Zoie Clift
Collect coins?  The U.S. Mint is unleashing 56 quarters
that will honor national parks and sites in each state. The quarters will be released at a rate of 5 per year, each bearing a different design. The first quarter
available to the public (on April 20) will honor Hot Springs
National Park
. The quarters are being issued in the order the areas first came
under federal protection. Hot Springs National Park was the first land set
aside by the federal government for preservation when it was established on
April 20, 1832, as the Hot Springs Reservation. The Hot Springs quarter will depict
the park headquarters behind a fountain. More about the program can be found here.
