Old Fashioned Bread Pudding with Almond Sauce

  • 12 day old homemade yeast rolls
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Dash of salt


Preheat oven to 375degrees. Crumble rolls into small pieces. Mix all ingredients. Pour into 12" X 12" baking dish. Bake for 45 min. or until done in middle. While pudding is baking make the almond sauce.
Mix sugars and flour. Add butter and mix until creamy. Add remaining ingredients. Mix all together until smooth. Cook in top of double boiler until mixture reaches desired thickness. Sauce will continue to thicken as it cools. Serve over warm pudding.
