Recipe Description & History

Arkansas leads the country in rice production with over half of the nation's rice grown here. So it's only natural there are festivals celebrating this crop. Two are held in October each year - the Arkansas Rice Festival in Weiner and the Grand Prairie Rice Festival in Hazen. The former hosts the Riceland Rice Cook then publishes the winning recipes. Featured here is the 2005 Grand Prize winner, also a winner in the bread category. (Recipe courtesy Riceland Foods, submitted by Lynn Duke, Weiner)
