Recipe Description & History
Each October The Great American SPAM Championship takes place at the Arkansas State Fair in Little Rock. Though SPAM was born in the north at Hormel, the championships are here in the South, hence its inclusion in Southern cooking. This spicy ham product in its easily recognizable can has been around since 1937 and is still going strong. So strong, in fact, it has its own official fan club. Here is the first place winner from the 2006 competition.
